It's not how much you make

From this article:
HSBC found that 49% of respondents with at least $250,000 in income aren't saving more because they simply "want some spending money." In 28% of the cases for those who earn between $100,000 and $250,000, respondents say they do not save more because "something unforeseen always comes up." And in nearly one in 10 situations, people who earn $250,000 or more say they aren't even earning "enough to make ends meet as it is."

There's one saying that says, "He who dies with the most toys wins". This is, of course, FOOLISH as Scriptures warn us that "What does it profit for a man to gain the world and yet forfeit his soul?" So the Jacqs, the Tiffany's, the big house, and whatever unnecessary fancies we buy will burn away one day.

I was at a friend's house over Easter and I asked him if he was going to buy a boat since his backyard is on the lake. He said he and his wife decided to forgo the boat so that they can have another kid, #4 that is. Ah, treasure that will make a mark on this earth and make a diff.

A kid over a boat? Come on...changing diapers vs. the open seas! ;D

j/k of course. It's true. Many times the most content are those that live within the means of a regular lifestyle. Those "cursed" with more money tend to have more money to spend, and don't know what to do with it other than spend.

Money is the root of all evil (1 Tim. 6:10), and it takes a strong Christian with a good, solid understanding of Biblical economics to have much.

I am not saying you can't be Christian and be rich at the same time. But with much given, much is required (Matt. 24:14-28).

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. But I agree.

Well said, Ben. It's not having it, but rather serving it in the way Christ rejects in Matthew 6:24 (simultaneously banning polygamy, ha ha).

And well said, Mercy; I know any number of high earners who live paycheck to paycheck and are constantly refinancing homes and even cars to make ends meet. (read "The Millionaire Next Door" for more interesting facts about this)
