Suffering?

My pastor preached on suffering this past Sun and that how we will suffer persecution for Christ sake. So what exactly does that mean for us living here in the U.S.? I mean it's not like we are being made fun of or dragged through the streets for our belief. In fact, there's a T-shirt that some Hollywood stars are wearing like "Jesus is my home boy".

Well, many media types do make fun of Christians, but it's absolutely correct that we're not generally being thrown to the lions.

But in minor ways, we do suffer for Christ. Basic Biblical morality is going to keep us out of a lot of lucrative jobs, and thrift will lead us to live more modestly. Maybe this is our training for more serious suffering?

Humn, as always BB, you have great thoughts, well almost always:o)

You are right in that as far as morality goes, being pure and blameless make us look like we are out dated. Unfortunately, many of us surcome to the world and the result is that we do not suffer.

So the ? I have is if we are not suffering, then are we really following Christ?

I think another aspect of suffering is continuing to fight for the truth. Sometimes we get tired and we give up, we give up helping people who do not appreciate our help or we give up b/c it's too hard.

Sounds like you and I both have our marching orders, then.
