Sex & the City

So I went on a blind date and this girl (a believer) said her fav show is S&TC. I have never seen it but the name implies a lot already. However, to be fair and keep an open mind, I was surfing channels and came across it so I tuned into it. I tuned it out after 5 min as it was the most vile show I've watched on TV. My question is am I out of touch with reality, too strict, and legalistic, or are we dumbing down the gospel that we can find such shows entertaining?

Yes, we're failing to teach about sin, and hence we forget to think "what if that were my sister?" when we hear of shows like that. I've never personally seen the show, but I have read a review or so, and, well....I'd be sad if that were my sister or daughter.

One other thought; you might want to think twice about what this young lady has learned from the idiot box before asking her out on a second date. Not that this should necessarily kill things forever, but definitely think it over.

Thanks, BB, for the advice as I have already made up my mind when she said it. But to be fair, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. If she was @ my church, then I would have asked an older sister to get to know her and have good teaching influence on her.

Shawn,
I'm so glad to read your words, and the other comments here... the name of this show is entirely enough to completely turn me off and I'm glad that that is the case for others. Makes me think of how Jonathan Edwards wrote about his wife how she "looked to the sky..." and was so deeply concerned to be pure and pleasing to her heavenly Groom. May we be so! And may we somehow live within His grace to be pure and not think it's legalistic to be so.
