Mets beat Cards 2 to 0, Cat Cloning Shuts Door.

Beltran hit a 2 run homer at bottom of 6. Mets win game 1. Now I can go to bed.

In other news, Genetic Savings & Clone, a biotechnology company that sold cloned pets, sent letters to its customers last month informing them it will close at the end of the year because of little demand for cloned cats. The company had recently reduced the price from $50,000 to $32,000 ( source)

What idiot started this company in the first place? Why would anyone pay more than $100 for a cat?

Amen to that. We had a stray cat climb on our porch one cold October day a few years ago, so we brought it in. It turned out to be a nasty s.o.b. so I dumped him off one morning next to a farm. We than got a cat from a neighbor who was moving, $0 cost to us. We absolutely love and adore this cat. And that's the problem, it's a crapshoot how good a cat you're going to get. At least if you spend $xxx for a dog, you can reasonably know what they're going to be like.

I'll try a bit on synthesis here. If the Cardinals could clone Chris Carpenter they would stand a better chance of beating the Mets.

Now, I know the owners of the Cards would be willing to pay $30k for that! I can't believe the Cards came back to beat the Mets.

And now they're doing it again. Didn't the Cardinals and Tigers play for the title back in '68?

'68 Cardinals vs Detroit; wasn't that the year of Bob Gibson vs Denny McLean, and didn't McLean win 30 that year (the last one to do it) I can remember watching some of those games, but for the life of me now I can't remember who won the series.

Dunno about 68 as I was not born then:o) However, unless my Mets perform better, it looks like it'll be a repeat and if so then go Tigers since they were the wildcards that beat the evil Yankee empire!

To answer Rabenstrange, exactly, who would pay $100 for a cat? In fact, who would pay any $ for a cat? I know I'd take it as long as someone pays me, then I'll take it to one of the Vietnamese retaurants and sell it to them:o) Ok, that was a bit disgusting but I'm only telling the truth.

1968 Tigers beat the Cards 4-3. That year Denny Mclain won 31, and Bob Gibson won 22, with 13 shutouts and 1.19 era. That was back when pitchers were pitchers, aaaarrrr. I seem to recall that Gibson was never one to back down from throwing a lot of chin music. Not sure whatever happened to him; but Denny McLain's life sucked after that. Three years later he lost 22 in a year. He was nailed for gambling, busted for racketeering and embezzling, and I think he might still be in jail.

ps: loved the comment about dog wigs on Hammerswing

Why would anyone pay anything for a cat? :D (Dang it, raben beat me to it!)

And the Mets creamed the Cards last night.

I wouldn't pay much for a cat at all. I'd pay many thousands of dollars to clone my dog though. Apparantly there are hundreds of people who would pay that kind of money to clone their pets or GS&C would be out of business as cloning is still rather expensive.
