Robertson a modern prophet?

So what do you think of Pat Robertson's latest statement? This is not the one about assasinating the Pres of Venezuela.

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8. On Wednesday, he added, "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."

See this article for details.

I'm sorry but I can't hold it back any further. I think he's an idiot just like Jesse Jackson. They've said so many outrageous things that no one listens to them anymore, well, except for their followers who are too lazy to think for themselves. Now, I can get onto my next post.

i actually think that pat thinks he is doing the right things and while I may think he's a nut, in his own way - i think he's trying to follow God. unfortunately, too much of what he says sounds like crazy and not like love...

My take is that if Robertson takes on the mantle of a prophet, he ought to be willing to suffer the Biblical punishment for false prophets when he's wrong. Death is the penalty for wrongly claiming to speak the words of God.

Which also means that "may be" and "if I heard the Lord right" probably don't belong in true prophecy.

random question, but do you think there are still prophets - like the old testament type? i'm hesitant in just saying "no" because God does not tend to conform to our lists of "how" and "how not" to work, but i'm still puzzled nonetheless... thoughts?

Prophets were given in the OT to speak for God. In the NT, we have the Word and the Holy Spirit instead. The only prophet if you will is John in foretelling the end times.
