Attack Iran

According to this msnbc article, Hezb is to meet w/ top Syrian and Iranian officials in Damascus this wknd about the current conflict. One bold but costly resolution is to decimate all of Iran's oil pipelines and wells. This way they don't get any more oil income and they will eventually stop funding terrorists, just like when the USSR went broke and now we see many free countries. The price to pay is much higher gas prices, probably a recession, and more terrorist attacks in the short future.

Of course, I'm not suggesting we do this, just throwing it out there for discussion and I figure the headline gets attention. Heck, I should work for the tabloids.

Doctrine of Preemptive Strike

1. Is Bush's DPS a good policy?
2. Has this accelerated Iran and N Korea's nuclear programs?
3. Have we started another round of nuclear race?

Gay Couple Splits Up

From this msnbc.com article:
The lesbian couple whose landmark lawsuit helped Massachusetts become the only state in America where same-sex couples can marry legally have split up, a spokeswoman said Friday.
-------------
This should not surprise anyone but it made the headlines. One of the arguments that gay rights advocates gave for same sex marriage is that since heterosexuals have such high rate of divorce that gay couples can raise a better family because they have more in common than heteros. In the end though, it doesn't matter hetero or gay couples, sin still dwells in human nature and the result will always turn out bad. Also high courts in two states (NY & GA) turned down gay marriage recently (source) while 45 others are moving toward the same direction. It's time to stand up and fight for what is right. If you think we as Christians don't have the duty to do so, then you may want to read this article from John Frame on Christian Activism.

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of being steam rolled by the liberals and now we need to stand up and fight back. Gay books are being introduced in elementary schools, the divorce rate is the same in Christian circles as non-Christians, and sexual encounters is the same among Christian singles as in non-Christians. Why is this? Have we become like the church of Laodicea that Pauls talks about in Colossians?

Bush vetoes stem cell bill

Below are excerpts from this msnbc article

"This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others," Bush said in announcing his veto. "It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect."

On stage behind the president and in the audience were two dozen children, squirming in their Sunday best, born from those leftover embryos. "These boys and girls are not spare parts," Bush said. "They remind us of what is lost when embryos are destroyed in the name of research."
--------------------
It goes on to say that most Americans disagree with the president, according to public opinion polls. My question is what's next, euthanasia or gay marriage? Oh wait, these are already laws in a few states. So as believers, is there anything we can do?

An Awesome TP Job

So I was 1/2 hour late to work today not because I overslept nor that I forgot to iron my clothes the night before but because of this. I have to say that it ranks among the top car jobs I've seen, yes even when compared to the ones that I've been accused of doing, I stress accused. This has writing on all of my windows, then TP, and finally saran wrap. Awesome job!

I hope the two brave souls that did this are nocturnal because they'll need it, even if one of them moves 1/2 way around the world as I spare no expense in payback.

Justice & Mercy

An excerpt from John Frame's article:
Scripture tells us not only to rescue people from Hell by preaching the gospel, but also to care for the poor, the orphan and the widow. It calls us to "do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10). It calls us not only to bring people to faith and baptism, but also to teach them "to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:20), which includes the pursuit of mercy and justice among human beings.

As God’s Spirit penetrates people’s hearts through the gospel, those people become new creatures (2 Cor. 5:17). They take their faith into every sphere of life, including the workplace, politics, economics, education, and the arts. And in all these realms, they seek to glorify God. They hear Paul’s exhortation in 1 Cor. 10:31, "whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." They obey, imperfectly to be sure. But their incipient obedience leads to significant changes in society...

Better than Worse?

If you were put in a room w/ ten illiterate people and everyone's asked to take a written test, would you feel ecstatic if your score came out better than the other ten? Well, if you do, then you have big issues:o) Unfortunately though, that is how many of us live today. Instead of comparing ourselves to the standards set in Scriptures, we compare ourselves to the standards of the world. As long as we do better than the world, then we are living a good Christian life.

Here are some examples:
Instead of cheerishing your wife and loving her, not beating her is being a good husband.

Instead of fleeting from temptation, teenagers will be teenagers so being sexually promiscuous is unavoidable but as long as the two are not being one then that's better than the world.

Instead of saving $ and giving it to worthy causes, not spending money as lavishly as the world is being good stewards of God's money.

So the next time you think you are doing pretty good, are you comparing yourself to the world or are you comparing yourself to Scriptures?

Superman

Superman is a great movie not only for guys but for girls as well. In addition, it has a redemptive theme and below is what director Brian Singer said about his film(tho Singer is not a Christian):
There's a bit of the Moses story in the origin of Superman—the parents who send their child downriver to fulfill his destiny. There's a very strong Christian allegory as well, particularly in our film, which is about saviors and sacrifice.

Here's a line from the movie:
Lois, what do you hear up here? Nothing? I hear it all. I hear people from all over. You think that people don’t need a superman, that they don’t need a savior. But I can hear people all over the world crying out for one. crying out for a savior.
----------
As Christians, a lot of times we are so preoccupied w/ our lives that we don't hear anything and therefore we don't think the world needs a savior.
